Time to review your personal insurance

When considering your personal insurances, you can benefit from discussing your options with a broker that can assess what it is you need and do the legwork to find the best policies available for you.

Private Car

On average we spend 37,000 hours in our cars and travel 800,000 miles over the course of our lifetimes. Having adequate insurance to protect you and your loved ones whilst operating a vehicle is essential. Policies are flexible, some of the benefits our private car insurance can include are:

• Comprehensive or third-party fire and theft options available
• Personal injury cover
• Protected no claims bonus
• Breakdown provided by RAC

Plus, many more optional and add-on benefits. When looking for quotes for your vehicle it’s important to make sure you are as accurate as possible with the information you provide and that you compare quotes on a like for like basis.

Home

Our homes are often the most valuable asset we own and a great source of memories and happiness. Having the right insurance in place gives you the reassurance that your home is protected and covered for the cost of repairing or rebuilding your property.

The use of one size fits all policies which can be purchased online often leave properties underinsured and at risk of not being covered in the event of making a claim. It is essential that you find the right cover for your property, and our advisers take the time to talk you through the process and make sure that your asset is adequately covered. As an insurance broker we also have access to products that aren’t available on the open market, which is particularly useful if you have a quirky property that doesn’t fit into the ‘standard construction’ bracket required by most online insurers.

Whilst home insurance isn’t a legal requirement, it is normally a requirement from your lender if you have a mortgage. Our home insurance policies have the following cover options available:

• All risks cover for building and contents
• Dedicated in-house claims team
• Accidental damage
• Alternative accommodation
• Personal belongings outside of the home

If you operate a holiday-let, then you will also need serviced accommodation insurance for your rental property to ensure that your investment is covered.

Travel

Whilst there is still a level of uncertainty around travelling abroad in 2022 and what that will look like, if you book a break abroad you will need appropriate travel insurance for your trip. There are various travel insurance options available, but cover will typically include the following benefits:

• Up to £20,000 medical expenses cover
• Up to £10,000 cancellation cover
• Cover for winter sports and extreme activities
• Delayed / missed departure or cancellation

It’s not always the easiest option to get a price comparison quote online. If you have booked a high-risk activity, like skiing or snowboarding, you’ll need to make sure that the insurance you have includes a suitable level of medical expenses cover.
Travel insurance shouldn’t be considered a luxury add-on, it’s an important part of making sure your trip runs smoothly and that you have the security in place should the unexpected happen.
