Telecoms Procurement Manager

I joined the Telecoms Team in 2011. The knowledge and experience I have gained over this time from colleagues, internal and external training opportunities, including achieving PRINCE2 in Project Management in 2022, has led me to progress to my current role of Procurement Manager.

The next couple of years are going to be an exciting time for Telecoms. The PSTN (Public Switched Telephone Network) we’ve all relied on for our telephone lines since the introduction of the copper network in 1876, will be switched off in 2025 resulting in lines moving to fibre/hosted services.  This, together with the 3G switch off, is a step forward in the way we rely on and use technology to stay in contact and connected with customers, suppliers and colleagues. It’s one your AF Telecoms team is not ignoring – we’re actively engaging with Members to help, advise and lead them in making the necessary changes, a task we take very seriously.

With such a varied membership base of diversification and requirements, no one solution suits all and finding the correct fit for a Members business requires the use of my problem solving, analytical and leadership skills, so your AF Telecoms team provides you with a solution to future-proof your business.

Telecoms Business Development Specialist

My primary role is to undertake cost analysis for Members and produce proposals for telecoms services including mobile, landline and broadband connections.

With a background in procurement and customer service I have worked at AF since 2006. In that time the telecoms department has developed a great deal, for example when I started my AF journey we managed a few hundred ‘voice only’ mobile connections, whereas now we look after over 18,000 connections using over 25,000GB of data per month. My greatest satisfaction is finding savings for Members – helping businesses spend less on their running costs is rewarding, especially when it can make a big difference to their survival. When I look back over my time at AF I think more about the relationships I have developed with members than I do about the business that has been done – I am now seeing the second and even third generation of farmers coming through on some accounts, I may have even sold their parents their first mobile phone contract – I’m getting that old!
