'No Farmers, No Food'

With over 61,000 followers on X (formerly Twitter) the ‘No Farmers, No Food’ movement has certainly grown quickly. In a press release last month, it set out its mission statement “to ensure that British farming remains viable and is able to continue to produce and supply sustainable levels of food to British consumers.”.

But to what extent does it amplify farmer’s voices? AF Member Simon Craven of East Yorkshire, shared his thoughts with us.

“It’s a great campaign, and it’s already having an impact. It’s inspired me (and hopefully other farmers) to spread the word about the importance of farming.”

One small change at a time

“Getting consumers to understand how, and where, their food comes from and reigniting traditional values of fresh, seasonal produce, are vital to farming’s future.

“I recently shared a ‘No Farmers, No Food’ social media post and one of my followers (someone who has actively been involved in protests against farming practices in the past) was inspired to learn more about farming and the challenges it faces. He’s now a supporter of ‘No Farmers, No Food’ and spreading the word himself, which is a great result.

“Another acquaintance, someone with no connection to farming, actually made a ‘No Farmers, No Food’ sticker to put in their own car window. That inspired me to have a batch of stickers made and when I explained to the local print company what they were for, they were more than happy to get involved!”
