Let's meet ...
Sandie Wadsworth

As a keen linguist at high school (I even loved Latin!) I dreamt of a career in the travel industry. Sadly, despite always eating my greens, I stopped growing at 5’ 3”, so was  4 inches short of the required height to become an airhostess.

Warmer climes

When I left school I was offered the opportunity to move to South Africa, and took up my first job in finance as a Sales Ledger Assistant. I quickly realised that numbers and my analytical brain were a match made in heaven, and I’ve have continued to work in finance and payroll positions throughout my career.

Payroll professional

I’ve specialised in payroll for the last 15 years. Although it’s a cliché, I really do thrive on a challenge and ever-changing legislation means payroll never fails to deliver those challenges. It’s the reason I enjoy it so much.

I joined AF in September 2022, and my first challenge was to quickly get to grips with processing multiple payrolls with different frequencies throughout the month. It was different to the single larger payrolls I was used to processing. I continually evaluate, streamline and automate our processes to ensure we deliver our Member payrolls correctly and on time.

Why getting it right matters

Paying employees accurately and on time isn’t just a matter of financial obligation for employers, it’s essential for maintaining both positive employee relations (particularly with current cost of living crisis), and legal compliance.

I find nothing more satisfying than using my extensive experience and payroll knowledge to ensure our Members meet these obligations, taking the burden away from them and allowing them to focus on their day to day business activities.

Is it a bird? Is it a plane? No, it’s a pigeon!

When I’m not at work I love nothing more than picking up my camera and heading out into the countryside to photograph wildlife. Snapping a picture of a kingfisher is top of my wishlist. After one particularly long and unsuccessful trip to Strumpshaw Fen, with only a pigeon landing on the perch, I decided a touch of Photoshop was required until the day comes when I finally manage to grab that long awaited shot!

Sandie gets creative with Photoshop whilst she waits for that elusive shot!
