An eventful start

In February 2023 I joined AF as Crop Inputs Co-ordinator. I think I had the most eventful first week in AF history as, after my first day in the office, I spent the rest of the week unwell with Hand, Foot & Mouth!

A new generation in agriculture

I’m from a long-standing farming family – my father’s side of the family have been farmers for over 400 years. So I knew from a young age I would go into agriculture in one way or another.
I studied Animal Care and Horticulture, before going on to gain my Foundation Degree in Agricultural Management from the University of East Anglia. Whilst at university I worked in a local dairy, then spent 7 months working on the same arable farm as my uncle and dad, where they needed cover whilst a colleague was out of action with Pneumonia.

Did you know…

A little known fact about me … I hold PA1, PA2 and Telehandler certificates, and was in the 5% of the UK who scored 100% on their PA1 test.
I get a real thrill from making sure we procure the right product, at the best price and on farm when our Members need it.

Tractors and toolkits

I’m an active member of Dereham Young Farmers and I’ve been on the committee for 3 years. You may even have seen me or my family’s Ford 4000 at the Dereham Christmas Lights Switch On; we’ve been taking our tractor for the past 2 years to raise money for our chosen club charity each year.
Recently my partner and I have bought our first home together, although it’s more of a renovation project than a home at the moment! So most of my free time at evenings and weekends is filled with stripping plaster off walls or arranging tradesmen.

Our pride and joy, a family effort to restore it after COVID lockdowns.
