Let's meet ...
Annalise Shackcloth
I joined AF in November 2021, shortly after finishing university. It may not seem the obvious route, but my degree in Animal Science has been useful in some aspects of my role.
A passion for rural life
I don’t have a farming background, but living in rural North Norfolk all my life means farming has always been part of my life, and something I’ve been interested in. It’s been fascinating to attend the Royal Norfolk Show every year for 15 years, learning more about farming life.
Digging into Crop Inputs
I’m no stranger to the long hours that our farmer Members work. Before joining AF I worked in a pub, which provided me with an income while I studied.
I knew that when I graduated, I wanted to work in an industry I was proud of and passionate about. So I applied for the role of Crop Production Specialist as soon as I saw the advert!
Although varied, my day-to-day role focuses on procuring a wide range of crop inputs products for our Members, at best prices and with prompt delivery. But I do a lot of behind-the-scenes tasks too, such as querying invoices and code matching to ensure orders go through our system seamlessly.
I’m the team ‘early bird’, during busy seasons, starting work at 7am after an hour’s drive to get here. Why? To respond to your questions and place your orders as promptly possible.
The thing I enjoy most about my role is learning something new every day. If I come across something new I don’t know about, I research it to learn more.
In Spring 2023 I passed my foundation BASIS course. It’s given me the basic agronomic knowledge I need and has greatly helped in conversations with our farmer Members. I’ve since developed a real interest in pest control, and plan to complete further qualifications so I can specialise in the area and advise Members on best options.
Of an evening
If I’ve spoken with you, you may already know I’m a real animal lover. I often take a trip to one of our many regional zoo’s (some even run by AF Members!) or adding another tattoo added to my collection. What you probably don’t know is that I have a now famous David Attenborough tattoo on my calf!
I’m happiest when out and about with my dog, Butter, enjoying the Norfolk coastline. I should probably mention my husband here too, as we’ve just got married!
When it comes to settling down in the evenings, I do a lot of digital art and I am currently learning French. Nous y voilà, c’est moi!
