Let's meet ...
Aleksija Curcic
After graduating from Newcastle University with a degree in Agriculture with Hons in Agronomy in 2017, I went on to enrol in the MDS graduate scheme.
There, I did four 6-month placements at a variety of different agricultural companies, ranging from trials with Syngenta to technical support for a soft fruit company in Scotland. It was a fantastic opportunity to work with a range of crop production systems.
My input to your inputs
I have been at AF approaching 3 years. In that time, I’ve completed my BASIS qualification in Crop Protection (2021) and earlier this year obtained my FACTS qualification.
My role within your AF Crop Inputs team is Technical Specialist. What does this actually mean? Day to day I advise our AF Members what, when and how to procure their fertiliser, seed, and crop protection products. My goal is to get the right product on farm, at the right time and the best possible price.
I’m also technical lead across all three product categories. I keep Members up to date with the latest technical updates on current products and upcoming releases, as well as the latest developments in crop technology and innovation, including environmental, legislation and digital advancements.
It’s all in the insights
A key part of my role is to produce Agronomy Insights, a weekly email. Sent to our Members on a Tuesday, it includes technical insights and regular updates from throughout the week such as key product availability for example pesticides for the upcoming spring season. Other insights include fertiliser updates, such as when we anticipate new season prices launching and our predictions for them.
Agronomy Insights also includes any upcoming revocations Members may need to be aware of, and summaries of trials our AF team have attended, so we keep you up to date with the latest information. A glimpse at my roots
Many of you may not know that my family originates from Serbia, and I’m a twin.
I’m a keen supporter of Chelsea Football Club and in my spare time, I like to go to Stamford Bridge to watch them play.
