Let's catch up with ...
Vikki Williams

I’ve been part of your AF Telecoms team since joining in 2011. I began by working on fixed line faults, orders and upgrades. I’ve since developed my knowledge and experience, learning both from colleagues and formal training including achieving PRINCE2 qualification in Project Management in 2022. My hard work has paid off and at the beginning of this year I was promoted to Telecoms Procurement Manager.

The predictably unpredictable

My drive to get up every weekday morning and come to work at AF is knowing that it‘s impossible to predict what will happen during the day ahead.

Bad weather can result in a day of line faults, fallen cables and poor mobile signal. Good weather and quieter times of year e.g. before or after harvest, can see a big increase in enquiries about using mobiles abroad, so we can help you keep costs to a minimum when you’re on your travels. When you add in tariff analysis and contract renewals, it’s no wonder each day just flies by.

One of the most rewarding enquiries I deal with is when a Member asks us to find the right new solutions for their business. I enjoy working with our suppliers to guide Members to the right infrastructure and equipment choices and offer technical support along the way. Every Member’s business is different and each have different budgets, so I relish the challenge of finding cost effective solutions, whether off the shelf or bespoke, to achieve exactly what you need.

Changes now and on the horizon

A lot is set to change within the telecoms industry over the next couple of years, which will affect most of the technologies many of us rely on every day. With most Members needing to stay digitally connected throughout this period, my colleague Robert and I are on hand to guide you through changes to the fixed line infrastructure and the 3G mobile network switch-off.

A breath of fresh air

When I’m not at work I’m most likely found enjoying the great outdoors – cycling, running, or walking on the beaches or in our Norfolk countryside, with my daughter Catherine (who you may have spoken with, as she’s your AF Renewable Energy Specialist) and her 2 dogs, Milo and Lola.

My eldest daughter lives near Cardiff, which gives me a great excuse to swap the flat terrain of Norfolk for the rugged, wild mountains of Wales.
