Having worked her way up through AF, Amanda Warman now heads up AF’s Affinity Fuels team. A business that’s evolved through the years, Amanda explains why it’s proving so beneficial to AF Members and how to encourage people you know to order through Affinity Fuels.
"I’m Amanda Warman, AF Affinity Fuels Manager, working closely with your AF Fuels team. I’ve been with AF since 2012, when I joined as a Utilities Billing Administrator, and I moved across to Affinity in 2016. I became Affinity Fuels Manager in December 2024. This December marks 13 years with AF. It’s gone quickly, and I’m proud of my career here.
“I grew up with farming around me; my dad and both grandfathers worked in agriculture, so it’s always been a massive part of my life. Some of my favourite childhood memories are from farming. It even became a running theme at parents’ evening: Amanda always talks about farming!
“That lifelong connection to agriculture is a big part of why I’m so proud to work at AF - we share a passion for supporting farming.”
"Affinity Fuels has recently rebranded. We used to look after a whole mix of products and services but realised we needed to focus on what we do best: domestic heating oil and gas cylinders for domestic customers.
“Using AF’s buying power, we’re able to secure strong, consistent prices for consumers. Anyone can purchase through us and there are no membership fees. Affinity Fuels customers do pay a little more than AF Members but still get excellent prices and the same level of support from our team."
"Every litre sold through Affinity Fuels (currently 6 million litres a year) contributes to AF’s overall buying power. That volume helps us negotiate prices and service levels with suppliers and ultimately benefits AF Members too.
“Consistency is really important to us. I always think back to the ‘Beast from the East’, when some suppliers massively inflated their margins. We kept ours to our usual three to four per cent, which could equate to a penny or two, whereas others were adding 20-40p because they knew people would pay it.
“Whilst we might not always be the very cheapest, we stay competitively consistent throughout the year. At the end of the day, we’re here to support our customers and AF Members, not to make mega bucks.
"Affinity also supplies gas cylinders, which people don’t always realise. Perfect for barbecues, caravans or patio heaters. Again, we use AF’s strong supplier relationships to get impressively competitive rates."
"A big part of my role is working with community councils across the UK. Many people living in rural areas or moving into oil-heated homes don’t know where to start, and councils often support vulnerable residents who need a trusted supplier. Word of mouth is huge in these communities, and we’re proud that so much of our business now comes from personal recommendations."
"Launched in November, this is one of our most exciting developments. AF Members can now share a unique link with neighbours, relatives, friends or colleagues so they can access Affinity Fuels prices, market updates and our usual AF service. All without putting personal heating oil orders through your AF business account.
"Anyone who orders through Affinity Fuels gets their own invoice, pays by card, and manages their own order. It just makes life simpler for everyone."
"What we do at Affinity Fuels all comes back to supporting AF Members and their rural communities. It’s also a great way for people to support British farming – ordering through Affinity Fuels directly benefits our AF farming and rural business Members.
“Affinity Fuels is a big part of AF, and it’s so easy for people to join us. I’m really excited for what the future holds."
