AF Member F S Dann & Son Ltd recently welcomed a group of 23 Dutch farmers and agricultural professionals to Norfolk as part of an educational study tour organised by Field Farm Tours Ltd.
The visit gave delegates an opportunity to learn more about British farming and agricultural co-operatives. As the UK's go-to farm inputs procurement co-operative, AF was pleased to co-ordinate the visit.
The Dutch delegation visited the Dann family farm to gain first-hand insight into modern British farming and business diversification.
Farm owner Simon Dann shared the story of the family's four-generation farming enterprise, explaining how the business has evolved over time while remaining focused on delivering high-quality food products and sustainable growth.
The farm tour highlighted the diversity of the business, covering livestock husbandry and milk production alongside its successful egg and ice cream enterprises. Visitors learned how the business has adapted to changing consumer demands, invested in innovation and developed a recognised regional brand. A taste of Dann’s ice cream was a welcome delight!
The visit also explored the farm's approach to sustainability, efficiency and future development. Delegates heard about initiatives designed to improve environmental performance while maintaining a productive and profitable farming business.
Throughout the day, farmers exchanged ideas and experiences on topics including livestock production, diversification, farm business management and the challenges facing agriculture across Europe.
The visit provided a valuable opportunity for international knowledge sharing and demonstrated how collaboration, innovation and co-operation continue to play an important role in supporting the long-term success of farming businesses.
For AF, the event was another example of the benefits that come from farmers learning from one another and sharing practical experiences across borders.
